Bilingual (Spanish) Parent Educator

Bilingual (Spanish) Parent Educator to work in the Bachman Lake  area at the Lumin Bachman Lake Community School. Educator will visit in clients’ homes and provide parents with developmental information and other services – empowering families to optimize their child’s growth. This position works a year around schedule; Parents As Teachers (PAT) training (or willingness to attend PAT training) and CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.

Development Associate

The Development Associate (DA)  is responsible for providing staff support to the Lumin Development Department by managing the database system, coordinating the gift acknowledgement and stewardship process, and conducting database research on potential prospects to help segment donors based on past giving, demographics and other data.

This position will provide day-to-day oversight of the Development budget and regularly report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO)  as requested.  In addition, the DA will act as the primary contact with vendors on billing, contracts and other details, with oversight by the CDO.

The DA will provide administrative support to the CDO and as a Development team member participate and assist with events as needed. This is a full-time position with paid time off and medical benefits.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage and update the donor database system (enter data, create queries, generate reports, track donations)
  • Prepare deposits of cash, check, in-kind, and credit card donations and generate correspondence for staff in response to donations
  • Generate weekly and/or monthly reports on donor gifts, renewals and acknowledgements;
  • Conduct prospect and grant research;
  • Assist with writing, proofing and submission of grants;
  • Provide data segmentation expertise, coordination and interface for direct mail and e-appeals fall and spring annuals;
  • Manage departmental budget and interface on contracts with vendors such as Blackbaud;
  • Support Development strategy with limited evening and weekend assignments throughout year;
  • Provide administrative support for Chief Development Officer;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
  • Solid computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
  • Experience with databases (Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred);
  • Good research/writing/proofreading skills;
  • Extremely detailed-oriented;
  • Ability to juggle priorities in fast-paced office.

Toddler Teacher

Toddler Teacher for  a Montessori class for children ages 18 to 36 months in the Bachman Lake area of Dallas. This position is full-time and reports to the Classroom Supervisor. 

. Responsibilities include:

 

  • With Teacher II, conduct Early Head Start class for eight children, having primary care responsibility for four of the children in the class
    • Provide two parent-teacher conferences per year for each child
    • Provide two home visits per month for the four classroom children you are responsible for
  • Model respectful interactions with children and demonstrate methods of positive discipline, redirection, structured choice, and healthy communication
  • Create and maintain environment and implement curriculum so as to

▪     Develop secure relationships with children and encourage trust and emotional security

▪     Provide opportunities for sensory and motor exploration

▪     Encourage self-awareness, autonomy, and self-expression

▪     Support children’s emerging communication skills

▪     Encourage the development of gross and fine motor skills

  • Supervise indoor and outdoor play areas to monitor children’s safety
  • Maintain close, frequent, and effective communication with parents, and encourage parents’ participation in their children’s education through observation, volunteering, and participation.
  • Share information and observations about children’s mental health with parents, and participate in group and individual staff and parent education on mental health issues

Toddler Teacher

This full time position reports to the Classroom Supervisor and is located in the Bachman Lake area of Dallas.

Staff Functions and Responsibilities

  • Co-conduct Early Head Start Montessori Toddler class for 8 children
    • Provide two parent-teacher conferences per year for each child
    • Provide two home visits per year for the 4 children under his/her primary care
  • Model respectful interactions with children and demonstrate methods of positive discipline, redirection, structured choice, and healthy communication
  • Create and maintain environment and implement curriculum so as to

▪     Provide opportunities for sensory and motor exploration

▪     Encourage self-awareness, autonomy, and self-expression

▪     Support children’s emerging communication skills

▪     Encourage the development of gross and fine motor skills

  • Supervise indoor and outdoor play areas to monitor children’s safety
  • Work with Family Advocates and Health Services Coordinator in providing referrals for families and in providing paperwork to families
  • Maintain required records

Qualifications

  • Montessori certification, credential or experience required
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or the equivalent, preferred.  If not, then must have Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Infant and Toddler Caregivers or equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies, or must be in the process of completing this requirement
  • Knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education; principles of child health, safety, and nutrition; and adult learning principles
  • Respect for cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity
  • Ability to build relationships of trust and respect
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers is preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must be motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude with a commitment to customer service. .
  • Must be able to work the hours of the position based on the organization’s needs.
  • Must have current Infant/Child CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions
  • Must complete clearance of a background check, pre-employment physical, and TB test.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform the following job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodations:

-kneeling, bending, sitting on the floor, pushing, pulling, running, jumping, mopping, dancing, sweeping, singing, standing, twisting at the waist, raising arms above the head, rising from a kneeling/sitting position, lifting and carrying children up to 6 years.
