Types of Volunteer Projects
Campus Beautification Projects: 1-2 times per year, Lumin has the opportunity to host groups of between 20 – 40 corporate volunteers to assist in yardwork, clean-up, planting, minor repairs, and other campus beautification needs, typically in the fall and in the spring. This opportunity is most needed at Lumin’s Lindsley Park Community School Campus, located at 7130 Lindsley Avenue, Dallas 75223.

Reading Volunteers: Lumin is in need of reading volunteers who can commit to visiting a Lumin classroom for 30 minutes – 1 hour once per week to read to the class. We have two classes in Bachman Lake and six classrooms in East Dallas, each of which would gladly welcome a regular reader. While this is more of an individual opportunity, we could certainly coordinate schedules with smaller groups who wish to be on campus at the same time.
Creation and Organization of Home Visiting Materials Parent Educators in our home visiting programs provide all needed educational tools to the families with whom they work. These include age-appropriate learning activities for children ages 0 – 3. Lumin works with groups of 5-15 volunteers to put together learning activities for families to keep in their homes. This volunteer opportunity can be hosted either at Lumin’s Lindsley Park or Bachman Lake campuses, or at a home or corporate office. Each learning activity crafting session lasts approximately 90 minutes – 2 hours.
